Spiderwort

Tradescantia ohiensis Refinesque

"These rhizomatous, lefty-stemmed perennials often form large clumps with numerous stems bearing open umbels of flowers about 2 cm across. The linear leaves are 3-4 dm across. Widespread over much of the eastern United States, Spiderworts are found in varying degrees of frequency in disturbed areas, along woodland margins, roadsides, and pond or stream margins in all parts of Florida" (Bell & Taylor, 1982, p. 52).
