(The leaves of R. argutus, also with erect stems, are green beneath; the Dewberry, R. trivialis, is prostrate.) Sand Blackberry occurs along roadsides, woodland margins, and in clearings throughout Florida and north into the Carolines" (Bell & Taylor, 1982, p. 151).
