12 slices white bread
1 pound fried bacon or browned sausage
1 bunch green onions, sliced
3 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese
12 eggs, beaten
4 cups half-and-half
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking dish. Line the bottom with 6 pieces of bread. Crumble half the bacon or sausage over the bread. Sprinkle half the onion and cheese over the bacon, Mix the eggs, half-and-half, and salt and pepper until blended. Pour half of this mixture over the bread. Repeat the lsyerung with remaining bread, bacon, onion, and cheese. Pour remaining egg mixture on the top. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Bring to room temperature. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Bake uncovered for 40 minutes. Serve hot.
Yields: 8 to 12 servings.
